Made from Plants

Often the concept “made from plants” is used to describe food that has a positive impact on the body. But what about the wellbeing of the soul?

Sometimes our guests visiting the factory ask how we manage to keep such clean floors in the workrooms. Our answer to this question is simple – candles are food for a human soul, therefore we must meet the same criteria as food making does.

We are fascinated by the tought that the majority of things needed for everyday life can be made the industrial way from plants, leaves, stems and seeds using modern technologies.

For instance, hemp is used to make a variety of products, including building materials, plastic, paper, furniture, fuel, textile and even domestic appliances. Inspired by this fact, we created a candle, which would be made from plants. C-lights give an opportunity for people to enjoy the natural candle light. Only the wick holder is still made of metal because of the safety reasons.

The composition of the candle includes:

The main component of any candle. It can be made from paraffin, oil, plant seeds or animal fats. The wax used in C-lights is only of vegetable origin.

This is a very important component of the candle. C-lights candle cup contain herbal plant residues – sugarcane stalks and other plant residues left over from processing. C-lights candle cups are made from bioplastic, which is not a single type of plastic, but a family of different materials. Bioplastics are made entirely or partially from natural resources. Biomass used for bioplastics mainly comes from grains (corn), sugarcane, potatoes or castor oil. Other natural resources such as cellulose and corn crop residues (corn char, straw) are also available.

Please note that industrial composting is different from household composting. In other words, you should not dispose of the used candle cup in the household compost, but in the general waste container, from which the cup will be sorted and recycled by industrial composting.

Here you can watch a video about how bioplastic is processed:

C-lights candle wick is the key to a quality flame. Only organically grown cotton is used in the production of C-lights candle wicks.

Below we explain how organic cotton differs from conventional cotton growing methods:

When growing organic cotton, no chemical fertilizers are used. Fields are strictly controlled according to certain criteria. Such organic farms are only 0.1% of all cotton fields. To get rid of pests, natural aromatic products are used: a composition of soap, chili and garlic. Ecologically clean areas are suitable for planting seeds. Crop rotation is observed – several types of plants are grown on one plot of land. This contributes to the natural regeneration of the soil. Natural fertilizers are used – manure, compost. This contributes to preserving the quality of the soil and saturates the plant with all nutrients. Pesticides, insecticides, heavy and harmful metals do not accumulate in the fibers.
